T-Rex ‘Zord’

Little Yum-Yum created this in his favourite After School Club, Natural Thinkers/Outdoor Learning. Upon collecting him from school, the teacher asked Max to tell me what it was. “It’s a T-Rex Zord“.

Made out of natural material from the playground – apart from the googly eyes – I can see it … can you?

Another Glorious Day

A couple of days ago, we had more wonderful weather in London. So Max and I went to the park for the second time this week. (Click here to view previous post). This time, we went to different park from before… the one with the cafe that sells blue ice cream!

Dressed in his favourite hoodie, and armed with Teddy, Max began to explore…

… concentrating so much, he didn’t spot the cafe.

When he did, he and Teddy made a dash for it!

I cannot tell you the disappointment on Little Yum-Yum’s face when the member of staff said they had no ice cream. In fact, he just wanted to go home.

Instead, I took him to the nearest shop, where he chose the classic cornetto again. Phew!

All that walking around is tiring work for a toddler!

No wait… He’s off again!

On the way back home, Max came across this sign. I had no idea there was a Nature Trail there. Possibly something to look into for another time.

Prince Consort Lodge is a house situated in the park. I couldn’t take a photo of it as it was buried behind much greenery. I believe it is now used as offices. I certainly wouldn’t mind working there. The view of the park from the top floor, I’m sure would be beautiful.

Great Weather for the Park

Yesterday, we had lovely weather in London. It certainly called for a trip to one of our local parks.

Max enjoyed his choice of ice cream, the classic Cornetto.

Not sure what this was, upon inspection, it was a covered seated area which was locked. Unfortunately, there was nothing around with any information about it.

The trees were bare, but beyond them, you can just about see the wonderful architecture of the building.

Max caught me taking a photo of him, so stopped to wave.

Then went back to eating his ice cream.

He insisted that I took pictures of the “beautiful flowers”.

These were his favourite.

Daffodils. A sign of Spring.

A Trip to Our Local Park

Enjoying the glorious weather we are so lucky to still have at this time of year, Max and I went to the local park. There we came across a squirrel.

At first Max tried to talk to it.

Then he tried to catch it.

The squirrel kept running round this bin for a minute or two, before making it’s escape.

Max wondered off towards the little cafe located in the park.

En route, I noticed autumn had arrived.

As we approached the cafe, Max started to grin as he knew what was coming next…

Blue ice cream!

After a little while, we decided to head home. The park has many entrances and exits, so on this particular day, I chose a different one to the one we normally use, and came across this.

Turns out to be what was left of a fountain erected in 1872 which was ‘damaged irreparably during the Blitz’. It was so sad to read the Civilian Memorial part.

As we moved further to the exit, Max spotted this and asked me what it was. It’s quite hard to explain to a three year old that it’s a quote by the late Maya Angelou, so I told him I would explain later. I knew he would have forgotten all about it by then, because to be honest, I really didn’t know what to say!

Fluffy the Fly

On the way home from pre-school one day last week, Max found a new friend whom he named Fluffy.

20160512_125942 (360x640)

Yes, it was a fly! :/ It actually stayed with him for a good part of the way home.

Very protective over his new friend, Max shielded him from the sun…

Needless to say, Fluffy flew off, leaving a rather upset little boy, who said “Mummy, I thought Fluffy was my friend?”. Mummy told him that he must have been hungry, so had to go, and that he should not worry as he can make another friend.

Moments later, Max had forgotten all about Fluffy… 🙂
