The Christmas Bear

A lift-the-flap Christmas book!

Will Bear make it to Tom’s house in time for Christmas morning? Lift the flaps to find out.

My review:

I found the book to be ‘too busy’, but the story is lovely. It rhymes, and had cute messages under the flaps. All in all, an enjoyable book.

Designed by Master Maximus

This year, our Christmas cards were designed by Little Yum-Yum! He is very proud and I can see why.

Of course, I ordered more than I needed – present labels, tags, bookmarks as well as cards. But this was intentional; I will put the rest into a keepsake ‘box’ (which will eventually turn into an entire room at the rate I’m going!).

I even ordered a couple of mugs. I simply love the design.

The Night Before Christmas

20171211_121803 (640x482)

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

“Now, Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

My review:

A beautiful, rhyming Christmas story with pop up pictures. The only thing I will point out, is that Santa Claus/Father Christmas is referred to his original name, St. Nick and Saint Nicholas in this book – names many children have never heard of. Not a bad thing, I was just surprised as it is a children’s book.

Born in a Barn

Uncle Ricky and I went to see Little Yum-Yum in his Christmas Nativity – Born in a Barn. This was his reaction when he saw us; he suddenly went all shy! The look on his face was priceless.

The evening before, he was upset with me because I had not attended the previous performance. I explained to him that I was only allowed to attend one show not both. Still, he thought I had let him down.

Anyway, the performance was wonderful! All the children = cuteness overload!

Here was Max acting shy on stage. As you can imagine, the shyness didn’t last that long. He remembered his lines and sang all the songs. I did record some of the performance, but parents/carers have been told we are not allowed to share it on social media, as not all parents have given permission – hence the reason I have blocked the surrounding children’s faces.

I hope there is another performance next year.

Putting Up the Christmas Tree and Decorations

As we don’t have a big space to work with, we only have a mini Christmas tree. It works well for now anyway, as Little Yum-Yum is able to manage it better.

He put up the tree, and chose where the decorations should go. He then did a little dance with the tinsel, before deciding it was time to put them on the mantel piece and around the base of the tree.

Decorations Max made last year were used again this year. (Click here to view post).

The crackers won’t last long, I’m sure! The socking is too heavy (with chocolates and sweets), so won’t hang. It just falls to the floor! Surprisingly, Max hasn’t attempted to open his presents yet.

(Please excuse the wall calendar. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with everything without it).
