Little Bear’s Close Encounter

Little Bear looked up at the stars. “I wish I was an astronaut”, he sighed. Little Bear dreamed of exploring the world outside the window. He liked living in Emma’s bedroom, but he sometimes wondered what it would be like to climb a mountain or go deep-sea diving. Most of all, Little Bear longed to meet an alien.

My review:

This cute story reminds me of Little Yum-Yum. He too, wants to be an astronaut and is just as curious as this Little Bear character about other things. A lovely, feel good bedtime story, which is sure to leave a smile on any child’s face.

Just One More Swim!

Big Bear stood up and sniffed the air, then lumbered out toward the water. Her cubs scampered after her, blinking at the dazzling world. Big Bear padded across the ice. She stopped and dug a hole. She dipped in her paw and scooped out a fish!

My review:

Not really a fan of this story. It’s just, well … there. It’s quite boring and has nothing to it, although thinking about it, what with this being the case, Max may fall asleep sooner rather than later. My thought is it was probably written in five minutes. Seriously, Little Yum-Yum may not like this, but I will certain try reading it to him. I definitely do not recommend this story.

Muddypaws

It was a special day for Ben. He had a new puppy! “I’ll teach you all the things I know,” said Ben. “But first I need to choose a name for you. I’ll need to think hard about it. It has to be just perfect.”

My review:

This story takes a little boy on an adventure to find the perfect name for his new puppy. No matter where they go, the result is the same; the puppy ends up making a mess with his muddy paws! Lovely story for bedtime reading. I just hope Little Yum-Yum doesn’t ask for a puppy!

I Love My Grandma

Little Hedgehog and Grandma Hedgehog loved to play hide-and-seek together. One day, when Grandma went to find Little Hedgehog … Little Hedgehog hid! He put his paws over his mouth so that Grandma couldn’t hear him giggling.

My review:

What an adorable story! I’d never heard of it before, but am glad I came across it. It tells of a precious relationship between the two characters. They play, they bake … you can’t help but smile whilst reading it. So heartwarming. Definitely recommend.

Thumbelina

There was once an old woman who wanted a daughter more than anything else in the world.

She went to see a witch who gave her a seed to plant. The seed grew into a beautiful flower, and when the flower opened with a pop! a tiny little girl was sitting in the middle. The girl was no bigger than the woman’s thumb, so she called her Thumbelina and loved her like a daughter.

My review:

I remember hearing this story as a child. A cute little fairy tale, which tells of a tiny girl’s need to fit in … to have a sense of belonging. With a little help from the animals around her, she does indeed find a place to call home. Lovely story.
