End of Academic Year Report 2017-18

end of year report 2018

How time flies. The Academic Year is almost over, and the reports are in.

I am pleased to say Little Yum-Yum has done well in school. He is right where he should be for his age – even exceeding in a couple of areas; Technology and Exploring and Using Media and Materials. The use of his InnoTab Max and receiving Toucan Boxes has definitely paid off.

On another note, four weeks after starting maths and English with Kumon, Master Maximus has gone up a level in both subjects. He can also identify numbers 1 – 50 which are randomly placed in front of him (in other words, not in numerical order). I’m so proud of him.

Well done, Maximus!

During the two week Easter break, Little Yum-Yum and I didn’t really get up to much. The weather was terrible and we we’re both unwell.

After trying to find ready mixed paints for months (why is it so difficult these days?), we got lucky when we found some in a shop nearby.

Along with some nature stickers, Max created the most colourful picture to date! Of course we will find room (somewhere, somehow) on a wall, and add this to his many other pieces of artwork.

When Little Yum-Yum showed me this drawing, I asked him to explain who or what the character was. “It’s a Postoloster!”.

Confused? So was I.

He even asked me to help him spell and write the name.

Could someone please help me out, by telling me what exactly is a Postoloster? I’d be most grateful!

Nature Bag

Toucan Box Theme: Nature Bag.

This week we’re exploring the great outdoors. So first let’s create and decorate your nature bag, before you pick up your bingo card and go exploring. What will you find?

Little Yum-Yum gets busy with the dye for the bag, by brushing water on coloured tissue paper.

Next, he inserted the empty Toucan Box inside the bag, so the dye wouldn’t go through to the other side,

then he pressed as hard as he could,

which provided this result.

Master Maximus did not want to wait for it to dry naturally, so I put it on the heater to speed up the process.

He used the stencil provided to draw and colour a flower in first,

followed by a leaf, an acorn and a paw print. Now he’s ready to collect things as he explores the great outdoors. I hope he doesn’t try to put a squirrel in his bag; he keeps telling me he wants one as a pet …

Toucan Box Theme: Dinosaur Tail & Mask.

Stomp. Stop. STOMP. What is that sound? Can you hear it? We have travelled back in time to a PREHISTORIC land. And there is something stomping behind us … We’ve reached the land of dinosaurs!I hope you’re very excited to make your very own dino tail. The big question is, What dinosaur are you going to be?

As always, Little Yum-Yum gets straight to it.

He decorates the tail first, sticking here and sticking there.

With the tail now complete,

it was time to cut out the mask and to wear them both.
