There was once an old woman who wanted a daughter more than anything else in the world.
She went to see a witch who gave her a seed to plant. The seed grew into a beautiful flower, and when the flower opened with a pop! a tiny little girl was sitting in the middle. The girl was no bigger than the woman’s thumb, so she called her Thumbelina and loved her like a daughter.
My review:
I remember hearing this story as a child. A cute little fairy tale, which tells of a tiny girl’s need to fit in … to have a sense of belonging. With a little help from the animals around her, she does indeed find a place to call home. Lovely story.

It is one of my favorite children’s fairy tales. I actually owned the animated movie at one time and periodically the song will pop into my head. lol. It really is a cute story.
