The Night Before Christmas

20171211_121803 (640x482)

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

β€œNow, Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! On, Cupid! On Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”

My review:

A beautiful, rhyming Christmas story with pop up pictures. The only thing I will point out, is that Santa Claus/Father Christmas is referred to his original name, St. Nick and Saint Nicholas in this book – names many children have never heard of. Not a bad thing, I was just surprised as it is a children’s book.

Ha. I have been collecting “The Night Before Christmas” books for a long time. I have one from the year I was born and I must have 50 or more.
I have one from 1917 and it is a hoot. I just love that book.
I have one where all four of my children took turns reading the pages. Sigh. I sure do miss Christmas sometimes.
I hope you and our little Yum-Yum have a WONDERFUL one, whether Santa Clause, St. Nick, Father Christmas or Saint Nicolas visits! πŸ™‚

Thank you, lovely lady. Our Little Yum-Yum already had a visit from Santa Claus in his school, but he is expecting another visit. He is going to write his list, and I’ve already got cookies and rice milk for Santa (he’ll be pleased, lol). Just got to get carrots for the reindeers… πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸ₯›πŸ¦ŒπŸ₯• Ho ho ho! 😘
