Easy Strawberry Strudels

You will need the following ingredients:

1 package puff pastry sheets
1 cup strawberry preserve
1 egg + 1 tbsp water (egg wash)
1/2 cup of sugar (optional)

Beat the egg and water in a small bowl to make the egg wash. Once done, set it aside.

Have your little helper unroll the pastry sheet(s).

(Please note, Batman did not help Max and I bake. It is just the shadow of my fingers and phone!)

Cut into small rectangular strips.

Place 1 tbsp of strawberry preserve in the centre of the pastry strip.

Place 1 tbsp of strawberry preserve in the centre of the pastry strip.

Fold one side of the strip on top of the preserve.
Brush a little egg wash on top on the strip and then fold the other side of the strip.
Press gently so that both the ends stick together.

Rub a knob of butter over the baking tray.

Turn the strudels over and place onto the baking tray.

Use a knife to make two cuts on top of the strudels so that steam can easily escape.

Brush some egg wash on top of the strudels and sprinkle some sugar. Max and I used brown sugar, but you can use your own preference.

Place in oven on gas mark 7, for approximately 15-20 minutes until golden.

I especially liked the first photo of Max just before he rolled the puff pastry goal. Precious! It must be a true joy to wake up each morning knowing that little cutie is yours and he is there!
