You will need: margarine/butter, puff pastry (ready or home made), cheese of your preference (Max prefers mature cheddar), grater, bowl/plate, rolling pin (thankfully Nanny has one!), and flour.
Grate the cheese – no, wait! Eat some cheese first. It doesn’t matter if there is not enough for the recipe.
Ah, yes. Here we go. Grate the cheese (finally!), and put to one side.
Next, lightly dust the surface with some flour.
Unwrap the pastry and place on top of the flour.
Roll out the pastry until it is nice and thin.
Sprinkle the grated cheese over the pastry.
Make different facial expressions, as all you want is just to eat the cheese.
Once done, it should look something like this.
Fold in half.
Cut into strips. (Max was not allowed to touch the knife – not even with supervision).

Rub some margarine/butter over the baking tray. (Max enjoyed doing this).
Twist each strip so they look something like this.
If like Max, you are a real cheese fan, feel free to sprinkle any excess cheese over the twists. Then place in the oven on gas mark 7.
Once golden, they are ready. It takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Remove from tray and leave to cool.
Once cool, enjoy!
